Learn Italian in Milan, Italy!

Milan is not only famous as the fashion capital of the world; it’s also considered to be the financial and commercial centre of all Italy. This makes it the most international and dynamic city in the country to learn Italian. Nearly 17% of Milan’s population are foreign-born and in this cosmopolitan metropolis you’ll find many people willing to help you improve your Italian language skills. In fact, Milan is famous for so many things that you could almost say this city is famous for being famous.

Milan’s famous things to do:

Football

Top European clubs FC Internationale and AC Milan are both based in the city, so attending a football match while you’re a student in Milan is highly recommended if you can get tickets - they can take weeks or months for popular matches, so plan ahead.

The Last Supper

Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting is on display in the refectory of the Santa Maria delle Grazie. This is another experience that needs to be planned. Tickets must be ordered in advance, your visit lasts for just 15 minutes and if you’re late you’ll miss your chance. But the chance to see this renowned fresco is worth all the trouble it takes. It’s an astonishing work of art that regularly stuns viewers with its power and beauty.

Teatro alla Scala

Known simply as ‘la Scala’ around the world. This modest looking opera house conceals an extravagant interior of red velvet seating and gold balconies. And, surprisingly, tickets to opera or ballet performances are not as expensive as people think. If you’re willing to go on a less popular day (Monday or Tuesday), and sit somewhere cheap, you’ll see a world class performance for a bargain price.

There is so much to enjoy in Milan

Duomo-Gothic cathedral built over 500 years. It is a famous landmark of Milan and a place that everyone visits. You can tour for free, climb the stairs to the roof and enjoy the scenery. When the weather is nice, you can even see the Alps.

Enjoy the tram ride. Milan trams are very convenient for getting around the city. Reservations are required to board the original 1920s vintage tram "ATM mosfera".

Let's enjoy fashion too. Milan's most famous fashion week is September's women's fashion week. There is also fashion week for men and fashion week for leather goods. The best time to buy clothing is in January, with big discounts throughout the city.
