Learn English in Los Angeles, USA!

Los Angeles is a vibrant city where it's possible to ski and surf on the same day. The City of Angeles, as it is known, is a world-class and important global centre and commerce. Situated on the West Coast of the United States, it is full of museums and art galleries, live music venues, clubs, bars, and great restaurants.

Located in a valley in Southern California, LA is also surrounded by beaches, forests, valleys and mountain ranges. It is a very large city – the second most populous in the USA – and very cosmopolitan: 17 million people from all over the world live here. In a city of this size, it takes time to travel around, but the public transit system is efficient and easy to use and there is so much to see and do. Living and learning in LA, the home of Hollywood, you can easily spot a celebrity or two. Many actors live here at least for a few years until they become famous, and some of the biggest stars own enormous mansions in this stylish city. You can buy “star maps” and take a tour of the locations of celebrity homes.

While you live and learn in LA, take advantage of the mild year-round weather and enjoy some of the great activities offered by this this destination. It’s a great place for sport, culture and, naturally, entertainment.

Be sure to visit the famous attractions of Hollywood, Venice Beach and Universal City. The Hollywood Walk of Fame now has over 2,500 stars in the sidewalks, dedicated to people of achievement in the entertainment industry – look for your favourite stars! All around the city you’ll see places familiar from many movies and television shows. It’s worth taking a drive on Mulholland Drive, which is featured in many films and offers great views of the city.

The various excellent museums and art galleries in Los Angeles include the Getty Centre, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, with has an excellent Dinosaur Hall that contains more than 300 real fossils. On a sunny day you can take a walk in Griffith Park and have a picnic while you admire some of the beautiful views of the city. Or travel a few miles east to Runyon Canyon, nestled into the famous Hollywood Hills, for great walking. For surfing and other watersports, the beaches are to the west.

LA has many unique neighborhoods so you’ll find plenty of delicious and authentic food. No matter what kind of cuisine you like - Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese, French, Middle Eastern or classic American – there’s a great choice of authentic restaurants to suit all budgets in LA.

Head to exclusive Beverly Hills and visit the famous shopping street of Rodeo Drive. Or take a trip out to Santa Monica to hang out at the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Beach and the Third Street Promenade. And Disneyland is only an hour’s drive to the southeast, in Orange County.
