Learn English in Melbourne, Australia!

Melbourne is the capital of the state of Victoria, and the second most populated city in Australia.

Safe and equipped with efficient infrastructure, it ranks as the most liveable city in the world according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Survey. Offering broad student experience and career prospects, Melbourne is also one of the world's top five leading student cities (QS Intelligence Unit).

The state of Victoria is a great place to do volunteer work, especially in conservation projects. And while the hospitality sector offers many opportunities for working holidays, there are plenty of opportunities to find work in the region, in a wide range of industries ranging from finance, petrochemicals, aircraft parts and pharmaceuticals to fashion garments, paper manufacturing and food processing.

Rich in culture and history!

The Koorie Heritage Trust showcases the culture and history of Aboriginal tribes known as the Wurundjeri, Boonwurrung and Wathaurong and other tribes of the Kulin alliance. Following the arrival of the British settlers in the nineteenth century, Melbourne has known a gold rush, several waves of immigrations and a financial boom... events that have altered and shaped the skyline and the culture of the city.

Host of the very first Olympic Games in the southern hemisphere (1956), Melbourne is home to major sporting events including the Australian Open (tennis), the Australian Grand Prix (Formula 1) and the Melbourne Cup (horse racing).

Many attractions to explore

Melbourne has many attractions, with major public museums, commercial art galleries and artist-run spaces.

The Royal Melbourne Zoo is the oldest in Australia and the Royal Botanic Gardens one of the best in the world. For shoppers, the Queen Victoria Market, or Vic Market -the largest open-air market in the southern hemisphere - is a must-see. Or explore the city from the River Yarra and visit the St Kilda foreshore.

Melbourne is a city that knows how to live!

From the high-end cuisine to the low brow rock gigs or the blockbuster sporting events, activities take place across a city full of parks, gardens, bay side beaches and historic architecture, much of it built during the glorious days of the gold rush. Drawing guests from across Australia and around the globe, Melbourne's busy events calendar is sure to excite.
