Sydney will deliver a fantastic English learning experience!

Sydney is the oldest non-indigenous city in Australia, where the first of the European fleet of ships landed in 1788 to set up the colony of New South Wales. The ships met land at Sydney Harbour, today a stunning waterfront with botanical gardens, art museums, the cobbled streets, quaint shops and markets of the Rocks, and the world-famous landmarks of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

The Opera House was the result of a architectural competition won by Jern Utzon Dane, who produced a startling non-conformist structure of nine ‘shells’ which radiate from the centre, the inspiration taken from the slices of an orange. These shells make up the five halls which house the performance areas.

Sydney is a great place to learn English if you are in to sport, as Sydney plays host to some of the biggest international and domestic sporting events, including the Australian Open tennis and golf tournaments, and test cricket.

It's a great place to study too if you enjoy Art! There are many public and private galleries throughout the city. The Art Gallery of NSW hosts major international touring exhibitions as well as being home to classic Australian paintings and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island art. Other galleries include the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Ken Done Gallery.
